I know I did once for saying no and I would never forget the experience later but this wasn't that attar. It was something that immediately stood out and made me sniff my hand so much during prayer, I was asked to go stand at the last row cause I was disturbing everyone around me.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eA Side Note\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eA lot of Middle Eastern oil perfumes — even the ones selling for $100 or more for just 3ml usually contain a pretty heavy amount of synthetics. Many of these oils are built on a foundation of materials like Galaxolide, fruity musks such as helvetolide, ambrettolide, amber molecules such as Norlimbanol, strong doses of Ambroxan, and plenty of Iso E Super. And honestly, it makes sense. They are affordable, they smell good, they give performance, and if people enjoy wearing them, then why not?\u003cbr\u003eAnd to be honest, those synthetics do play a big role in how the fragrance smells and performs. I am not a natural perfumer and I don't avocate against synthetics. They help us create accords that would be impossible to create using natural. As someone on base note once said, if naturals are the bone then the synthetic counterpart is the skin. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eBut King of Saffron wasn't built on that foundation. This is an attar that was created to mimic that same attar but based on a 100% natural foundation of oils. No fake musk, no iso e Super, no DPG and most importantly 100% natural. The Attar was initially created to be a personal oil rather than being sold to the market. Something I would dab generously all over myself during the super winter nights in Ramadan 2 or so years ago before the prayer. Something that gets your vibe or mood checked before entering the mosque. Something that gets you smelling your wrist after every prayer break. Something that puts you in a mood or what we like to say Khushu during the prayer and something at least for me made me stand in humility in prayer. It's the note that makes a good oud stand out. The starting is very nutty or saffron like almost as if you're smelling ghee or heated butter. From the saffron, the scent transitions to kinamic oud immediately. You got the smoke, saffron, a bit of rose, castoreum and birch tar. A beautiful drunk leather note that uplifts almost all oud and adds a slight smoke to anything its added on. \u003cspan\u003eCastoreum is most commonly sourced from Canada and Siberia, and although both come from the same animal, their scent profiles can be noticeably different. I believe this may be influenced by their geographical environment and diet. Canadian castoreum tends to smell cleaner, smoother and less overtly animalic. Siberian castoreum, on the other hand, often develops a damp, musky drydown with a pungent off-note that can be quite easy to detect. Personally, that note has never been my favourite. I don't know what is it in that Siberian castoreum that it just gives me a headache but I do believe all Castoreum has its use in perfumery.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSantal de Castor\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, however, is built around something entirely different. As the citrus note fades within maybe 30 seconds, you get the bright orange indolic tuberose which is somewhat still a top note. This entire moment, brings us closer to the women who's bravery and courage inspired this attar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs it moves towards it core heart, you start getting a super spice olfactory note, making the oil more dense, and warmer. This core represents the pressure of Pharaohs world which juxtaposed against the nature of the tuberose opening. The core theme from the top to the heart becomes a reflection of her within the household. One side you have a woman filled with compassion amidst the cruelty being rained by her husband, all while having strong faith.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003eAs it develops to its base, you start smelling one of the best Wild Malaysian Oud.
